May calls for EU visa controls
The Conservative leadership has called for the European Union’s freedom of movement directive to be included in a review of the EU’s powers.
Theresa May told the Sunday Times she had asked William Hague, who is leading the overall review, to include this principle, which allows migration between EU countries without visa controls, because it is an “important issue that we need to look at”.
David Cameron supported Ms May’s call this morning, when he told the Andrew Marr Show it was “absolutely right to look at the balance of competencies”.
