Unite pledge to take on 'Wonga week'
Trade union Unite has pledged to abolish the "Wonga week" by setting out plans to challenge payday lenders with a  network of credit unions. Steve Turner, director of executive policy, said Unite were in discussions to use the recent launch of a Salford credit union as the model for a UK-wide network aimed at providing "access to cheap finance and cheap credit to millions of people".
