Syrians agree to Eid ceasefire
The Syrian government will abide by a ceasefire throughout the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha, according to the UN special envoy.
Lakhdar Brahimi said the Assad regime, and opposition rebels, have agreed to the four-day ceasefire to "allow the political procss to develop".
"After the visit I made to Damascus, there is agreement from the Syrian government for a ceasefire during the Eid," he told a press conference.
Mr Brahimi did not give further details of the deal, but said the regime would announce its agreement today or tomorrow.
