Six staff at a private care hospital have been jailed for abusing patients under their care.
Five other members of staff were also sentenced - together pleading guilty to 38 counts of neglect or ill-treatment.
Former Care Services Minister Paul Burstow said there was "a culture of cruelty that had grown up in this organisation."
The Liberal Democrat MP also said there was a loophole in current laws which need to be closed which would put a legal liability on the part of the care company: "At the moment there is a... criminal offence of corporate manslaughter which can see a company in the dock. There isn't a similar offence when it comes to willful neglect of the sort we've seen at Winterbourne View."
Winterbourne View is a private care hospital just outside Bristol.
