Technological upheaval in NHS
Patients will soon be able to connect with their GPs via Skype, under new plans from the Department of Health. The idea, inspired by a similar system in India, will save £2.9m immediately, according to Health minister Dr Dan Poulter. The reform has been greeted with criticism as many worry that less technologically able patients, such as the elderly, could be left behind. Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham has branded the idea "dangerous".
