Cameron to press ahead with minimum alcohol price
David Cameron is to press ahead with plans to introduce a crackdown on cheap alcohol, despite opposition from within his Cabinet.

Although most of his ministerial colleagues are opposed to the idea, the Prime Minister is set to authorise a Home Office Consultation on making retailers introduce a minimum price per unit.

Opponents of the measure include the Chancellor, who is worried the change could deprive the Treasury of up to £9.5bn a year.
