NAO blames cuts for West Coast fiasco
Cuts at the Department for Transport were to blame for the West Coast Mainline fiasco, the National Audit Office has said. The spending watchdog also said the cost of the failures would be more than thought and that the latest reviews into the decision would add £8.9m to the existing £40m total cost of scrapping the initial decision.
