McLoughlin cool on 80mph limit
Patrick McLoughlin has downplayed the likelihood of the Government increasing the speed limit on motorways to 80mph.
Philip Hammond, when he was Transport Secretary, had put out the policy for consultation, but his successor Mr McLoughlin seemed cool on the idea when pressed on the Sunday Politics, insisting: “I won’t do anything that puts at risk road safety.”
"There’s been a few other things on my desk over the past few weeks at the Department of Transport since I’ve been there and I’ve been concentrating on those... Let’s wait and see shall we?"
