Carney package worth £890,000
Downing Street has defended the next Governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney after it was revealed his total financial package would be worth £890,000 a year.

Mr Carney’s annual salary is £480,000 but he will also receive a £250,000 housing allowance and £160,000 in pension contributions.

The Prime Minister’s Official Spokesman said this afternoon: “The Prime Minister’s view is that Mr Carney is an excellent appointment”
