Russia recognises need for Syria change - Putin
Russia recognises the need for change in Syria, Vladimir Putin has said.

Speaking at a news conference, the Russian president also said that the push to remove President Assad could cause more violence in the country.

"We realise what’s going on there and that the family has been in power for 40 years," President Putin said. "Undoubtedly, there is a call for changes."

"We are worried about another thing: what happens next," he added. "We don’t want to see the opposition come to power and start fighting the government that becomes the opposition, so that it goes on forever."
