Delors green light for UK EU exit

The UK should not be prevented from leaving the European Union, a former EU Commissioner has said.

Jacques Delors said Britain and the EU could "nevertheless remain friends" despite an exit.

Lord Kerr of Kinlochard, who was involved in negotiating the Maastricht treaty, said David Cameron risks taking Britain out of the EU "by accident". Lord Mandelson said the eurozone was "on life support".
