Strong reaction to rape anonymity plans

A heated debate took place in the House of Commons yesterday after the government announced plans to press ahead with giving rape defendants pre-charge anonymity. Tory MP Louise Bagshawe said the plans had raised concerns on all sides of the Commons. Lynne Featherstone, the Home Office minister responsible for equality, did not defend the plans in Parliament yesterday, The Times reports.
