The Association of Chartered Certified Accountantscomments on Cameron's new mentor scheme for young people.

ACCA is delighted the Prime Minister has announced this new mentor scheme for young people.  John Weston, Head of ACCA UK said “we’d like to offer our direct support to the Career Enterprise Company and the campaign. Social mobility is an area our members and students feel passionately about and I can speak confidently on their behalf when I say that they will want to be involved as mentors.

“ACCA has long called for improved careers advice for young people and this campaign offers a real boost. We know from our own research that having a role model or mentor can make all the difference when it comes to ensuring young people are able to fulfil their potential.

Our research has indicated that currently opportunities for young people tend to be limited to London. By having a co-ordinated nationwide campaign we hope that all children will be able to benefit no matter where they are in the country. The campaign has the potential to boost social mobility and address regional differences ensuring young people up and down the country feel prepared for the world of work and are aware of all the opportunities available to them”.
