Animal welfare charity issues 'fun'draising challenge to students
The Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF) has launched its inaugural Vet School Challenge, calling on students to come up with fun and imaginative ways to raise funds for the charity - and be in with a chance to win tickets for the charity’s annual discussion forum in Westminster event.
Two teams of veterinary students from the universities of Surrey and Glasgow have already signed up to the Challenge and are going head-to-head to raise as much as they can, aiming to raise £1,500 each by the end of April 2018.
AWF is a vet-led charity that funds leading animal welfare research, supports veterinary education, provides pet care advice and encourages debate on wide variety of welfare topics. The charity is supported by the British Veterinary Association (BVA), the leading representative body for vets in the UK.
Teams of up to eight students from universities, colleges and vet schools across the UK can enter the Challenge, planning any activity from sky diving to bake sales to raise vital funds for the charity. The student team that is successful in raising the most money by the end of April will receive invitations to the sought-after AWF Discussion Forum on 12 June 2018, which this year will feature a number of student presentations on recent research projects, funded by the AWF Research Fund. Following the Discussion Forum, the Vet School Challenge winning team will be presented with an award at an exclusive reception at the House of Commons.

Any funds raised go towards our mission of continuing to improve the welfare of animals through veterinary science, education and debate.”
