Assessing the impact of the proposed LHA cap

Moat

1 min read Partner content

Housing association Moat calls for the debate on the proposed LHA cap to be grounded in fact andevidence.

We are closely following the debate on the proposed LHA cap, sharing many of the concerns of other providers about the impact on current tenants and viability of future schemes. We are running our own numbers at the moment and the early figures show an average shortfall of over £50 per week, per household. We've got to remember that these are some of the most vulnerable people we house, so a shortfall of this magnitude would be very concerning.

We are are aware that a review is underway, and we support that approach- policy should be grounded in fact and evidence. But what the evidence shows so far is that the policy, in its current form, needs a rethink.
