Road Haulage Association

4 min read Partner content

The Road Haulage Association is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new and ground breaking insurance service, FR8 Haulage insurance, designed exclusively for member organisations of the RHA.

FR8 is more than just insurance. A joint initiative, delivered by the RHA in partnership with leading insurance experts Griffiths & Armour Insurance brokers and Aviva Insurance, offering a unique two tier approach that not only protects through high quality and competitive insurance products, but is helps prevent accidents from happening through proactive support and rewards for organisations committed to raising standards across the haulage and logistics industry.

Fewer accidents though good quality risk management support

The facts speak for themselves. Good quality risk management practices lead to fewer incidents and claims*, so FR8 provides guidance and practical online and tailored support to help run a safer working environment and minimise insurance premium costs. FR8 services are designed to encourage best practice and reduce RHA member costs, both in insurance premiums and potential costs of a breakdown in business continuity.

Inclusive legal services sets FR8 apart from other insurers

FR8 haulage insurance policy holders will receive inclusive legal advice provided by RHA Legal Services, ensuring the right level of support and guidance is available every step of the way. This legal service is inclusive and sets FR8 Insurance apart from other insurers. The service provides comprehensive advice, support and representation through its suitably qualified and industry specific lawyers, potentially saving RHA members and policy holders £thousands in legal fees.

Leading the way in driver training & standards

Through the RHA, FR8 Insurance provides policy holders with the opportunity to select from a comprehensive range of Approved Driver CPC periodic training courses. These courses not only meet the statutory requirements; they have been designed to help with your drivers’ professional development and address compliance, safety and improving productivity. All of which contributes positively to reducing risk and lowering premium costs through fewer claims.

And if the unexpected happens…..

Accidents happen. So in addition to proactive support in managing risk, FR8 Insurance will also give policy holders peace of mind their business has protection in the event of an unexpected accident or incident. A comprehensive range of products, policies and services means however conventional or complex the requirements are, the right cover and support will be place.

A brand new website has also been launched as part of the new RHA initiative which provides interested members and existing policy holders with information on the products and services available as well as several ways to contact the FR8 haulage insurance team with an enquiry.

Richard Burnett, CEO (RHA);

“Thanks to the vision and open minded approach of our partners, Griffiths & Armour and Aviva, I am delighted that the RHA can now offer insurance products to its members that reward their investment in the Driver CPC and training and their efforts to run a safe and complaint operation. Compliance with regulation is a massive cost to the road freight transport and logistics industry. Regular audits of business and compliance processes and ensuring drivers receive quality training reduces the risk of operating commercial vehicles substantially. The ability to recognise this investment in a professional operation in terms of the cost of insuring it and its fleet of trucks is a major step forward and one the RHA is proud to have been able to take in association with the UK’s biggest insurance underwriter and the road transport and logistics industry’s most respected insurance brokers. The RHA is the only trade association that solely champions the interests of professional road hauliers. It is only right that only RHA members can benefit from our new FR8 haulage insurance service”

Richard Trotter, Director (Griffiths & Armour);

“Griffiths & Armour Insurance brokers are proud to be a key delivery partner of the new FR8 Insurance service to all RHA member organisations. We fully support and endorse the wider aims of the RHA to raise standards across the haulage and logistics industry. Through the FR8 Insurance initiative, we look forward to working with the RHA and its member organisations to deliver industry leading risk management practices, safer working environments and high quality insurance solutions to all RHA members”

Jonathan T Smith, Head of Commercial SME (Aviva)

 “Aviva’s strategy on Haulage is to work in collaboration with commercial fleet operators within the UK who are focused upon implementing the highest standards of risk management and industry best practise. We continue to develop tailored solutions to customers who demonstrate a commitment to quality and professionalism and therefore welcome engagement with the RHA and its members to help raise greater awareness in relation to safety on the UK roads, vulnerable road uses and the quickening pace of vehicle technology which support safety improvements to this important sector”.
