Independent Age comment on LGA warnings about social care and local government funding

Janet Morrison, Chief Executive of Independent Age, the older people's charity has issued a comment in response to warning from the LGA about the final local government funding settlement and threats to care services.

"Whilst central and local government continue to disagree about how much funding is needed to fix the problems in social care, older people remain stuck in the middle when it's the loss of essential local services that threatens to hit them the hardest. Huge gaps in social care provision are difficult enough but combined with the loss of other local services, including local bus services, these spending announcements could mean older people who are just about managing to cope are left without even more services.”
