Nicola Dandridge, Chief Executive of Universities UK, congratulated students today on their A-level results as more 18 year olds than ever applied to university.
Speaking about the release of the A-Level results, Nicola Dandridge said: “Congratulations to all students receiving their results today and to those who have secured their place at university this autumn. Students should be proud of what they have achieved and those who have chosen to go to university can look forward to the life-changing opportunities that a university course offers.
“Last year, over half a million students were accepted to universities and colleges and we expect numbers to be similar again this year.”
Responding to questions about those who did not receive the results they needed to secure their place at university, Nicola Dandridge added: “Applicants should not give up hope and should look into finding a place via Clearing. Last year, a record 61,300 students found a place via the Clearing route so even if students haven’t achieved the grades they were hoping for; there are still a wide variety of excellent options available.
“The Clearing track is open for applicants today. Those students who want to go to university should be able to find the right place and course for them.”
