NHS Blood and Transplant appoints Blood Donation Director
Mike Stredder has been appointed Director of Blood Donation at NHS Blood and Transplant. He will take up the post on 29 June.
Mike Stredder has been appointed Director of Blood Donation at NHS Blood and Transplant. He will take up the post on 29 June.
Mr Stredder has a broad range of experience in operations, transformation, customer and patient care with leading healthcare organisations and retailers including Lloyds Pharmacy, Alliance Boots and Marks and Spencer.
He will be accountable for the collection of blood and platelets from altruistic donors to supply NHS hospitals across England and north Wales with the products they need to save and improve patient lives.
He will lead over 2,000 people working across the country in both multiple and fixed sites and on mobile teams collecting over 6,000 units of blood a day seven days a week.
Mr Stredder said: "NHS Blood and Transplant's priorities of improving customer experience and driving efficiency are aligned to my recent experience in major organisations serving the NHS. I am looking forward to this opportunity to lead an essential NHS service and to delivering a positive donor experience where this life-saving gift is both recognised and acknowledged."

NHS Blood and Transplant is crucial to the NHS delivering blood and blood based therapies across England and north Wales; organ donation and supply services for the whole of the UK; retrieval and storage of other tissues like skin and bone and a range of specialist therapeutic blood products and related services.
