Popular bus tours back on the road

It's the third time this year the AQA buses have taken to the road to give teachers support with new specifications and to get their views on what they should include. This time we'll be getting teachers' views on the new specifications for GCSEs in sciences, languages, geography and history.

The double-decker bus tour will give teachers the opportunity to meet AQA's experts and ask them any questions they have about the new GCSEs, which are for first teaching from 2016. The buses have proved really popular so far - Mary Smith, Head of Maidstone Grammar School for Girls, said:

"It has been immensely useful to have the AQA bus here and to give our teachers the opportunity to find out about the new specifications. It can be a worrying time when there is so much change and I think today's event has been both inspiring and reassuring". 

Geoff Coombe, AQA's Director of General Qualifications, said: "We know that teachers are really short on time, and that's why we've taken the approach to go out to them. The buses have a range of support materials and our experts will be able to answer any questions they may have.

"The first time we went out this year, over 800 teachers from more than 250 schools and colleges came on board the buses to give their views on AQA's proposed new A-levels and GCSEs that are due to be taught from September 2015.

"Their feedback, which included views on set texts for English Literature, had a direct impact on the content of the draft new qualifications we submitted to Ofqual, which have been accredited. We're now looking forward to getting their views on sciences, languages, geography and history GCSEs."

The two AQA buses will be visiting schools in 20 locations across the country including Leeds, Liverpool, Coventry and Leicester.
