Alzheimer's Society demands dementia representation on Government's social care taskforce

Alzheimer’s Society

Kate Lee, Chief Executive at Alzheimer’s Society, said

“We are increasingly disappointed and frustrated for people with dementia that their voices are not being represented in Government. One in every four Covid-19 deaths are people with the dementia. They are the worst hit by the virus, and the biggest users of social care - what more must it take for dementia to be directly represented on the Government’s Social Care Taskforce?

“It’s been a staggering omission, but there’s still time to rectify this, and ensure preparations for any second wave have dementia at their heart. The tragic loss of life among people with dementia on the scale we’ve seen cannot be repeated.”
