Labour could create second deputy leader post alongside Tom Watson

Plans are being considered for a second deputy leader of the Labour Party who would serve alongside the incumbent, Tom Watson, the Times reports.
According to the newspaper, allies of the Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, are said to be considering the move, which would install a woman in the new role.
The change could undermine the current deputy leader, Tom Watson, with one source close to Mr Corbyn saying: “If we get another deputy it will render the existing one kind of pointless.”
The idea is currently under discussion, and was described by a Corbyn ally as “an aspiration” rather than a firm plan.
“It’s really about getting a woman as a deputy more than anything else,” he added.
A spokesperson for the Labour leader did not confirm or deny the story
