Nicola Sturgeon suggests SNP planning for ten more years in power

The SNP is planning for another decade in power in Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon is set to tell party members today.
The First Minister will deliver the keynote speech at the Nationalists’ conference in Glasgow with a promise to focus on bread-and-butter policy issues.
Her party’s dominance north of the border in recent years suffered a setback at the recent general election, when they lost 21 seats in the Westminster Parliament.
Ms Sturgeon’s party are currently just short of an overall majority in the Scottish Parliament, where they are a minority government reliant on Green party MSPs to win key votes.
“Over the past ten years, we have led the way. We should be proud of what we achieved,” she will tell activists in Glasgow.
“Our focus now is on the next ten years and beyond. The world we live in today is changing at a faster pace than we have ever known.
“The challenges we face are generational. Our responses must be transformational.”
CHILDCARE
As part of a renewed domestic agenda, the SNP is promising to double access to free childcare from 15 hours to 30 hours, a move Ms Sturgeon says will save working parents £350 a month.
And she will promise a big funding boost to support the policy, saying: "Right now, we invest around £420m a year in early years education and childcare. I can announce today that by the end of this parliament, that will rise to £840m a year.
"This is a commitment unmatched anywhere else in the UK. And it's the best investment we can make in Scotland's future."
