Private renting must work fairly for both landlords and tenants - Nationwide

Nationwide

Paul Wootton, MD of The Mortgage Works has released the following statement following the publication of Karen Buck's article.

Nationwide believes that private renting must work fairly for both landlords and tenants – and that to achieve this the sector needs an efficient specialist housing court to provide greater levels of security and support if things go wrong.

Until then, Government and the sector must work together to establish clear circumstances when a landlord can evict a tenant – at the same time providing greater confidence and security to those tenants who pay their rent and keep to their tenancy agreements.
