Bangor becomes first university in Wales to partner with IPSE and support budding freelancers
The Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed and Bangor University have agreed a new partnership.
IPSE (the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed) and Bangor University have agreed a new partnership to support students who are either freelance or considering going into self-employment. It was the first university in Wales to join IPSE’s University Partnership scheme to support its budding freelancers.
Suneeta Johal, Head of Commercial Development at IPSE (), said: “We are delighted that Bangor University has joined IPSE as one of our University Partners. With them, we can support not only today’s freelancers and contractors, but also the next generation.
“Working with Bangor University, we will push ahead with our campaign to spread education and awareness about freelance careers. Students at Bangor will benefit from workshops, advice and training materials to make sure that if they want to go into freelancing, they have everything they need to get their careers off to the right start.”
Lowri Owen Enterprise Projects Manager at Bangor University’s Skills and Employability Servicesaid: “Supporting the employability of our students is a key strategy at Bangor University and this includes helping those who want to start their own businesses or be self-employed. Freelancing is a desirable option for those graduates who want to stay in this beautiful area of North Wales and we look forward to working with IPSE to offer support and resources to those students and graduates who want to develop their freelancing careers.”
