Women on boards: There’s still a long way to go before the UK can say ‘job done’, says EY

EY

Liz Bingham, an EY partner who received an OBE this year for her services to equality in the workplace, commented:

“Now is the time to fast forward the pace of change. While the UK may have exceeded Lord Davies’ original targets, there is still a long way to go before we can say ‘job done’. It’s absolutely right that the Government and UK business community continue to focus on this important issue and that we continue to strive to do better.

“Diversity isn’t just a boardroom issue. It’s vital that we have top talent coming through at every level of an organisation. The progress made to date needs to be sustainable over the long term. That’s why at EY we are investing in coaching and mentoring schemes for our high performing women and black and minority ethnic talent, in addition to setting targets with teeth around the diversity mix of our new partners.

“Diversity comes in many shapes and sizes, and diversity of thought is just as important as the number of women around the boardroom table. Ultimately diversity is about recognising and celebrating difference.”
