The views of the general betting public are fundamental to the continued success of the horseracing industry, says the Association of British Bookmakers

The views of the general betting public are fundamental to the continued success of the horseracing industry and we welcome the announcement by the BHA of the formation of a Horseracing Bettors Forum.

We are pleased that the Forum will be able to deliver proposals and recommendations to the BHA and the BHA Racing and Betting Group for developments to British Racing. Whilst racing remains a cornerstone of retail betting on the high street, with a long and proud association between horseracing and betting shops, the truth is the popularity of the racing as a betting product is in decline.

It is important for racing, the betting public and the betting industry to work together to find solutions to cement the future of both industries, and we welcome the formation of this Forum as an important step on the way to achieving this.
