The British Plastics Federation welcomes the £2bn Green Homes Grant announced by the chancellor today.

Plastic packaging plays a vital role in keeping down CO2 emissions as food is transported, and ensuring it arrives in a fresh condition for the catering world.

The creation of job opportunities for young people, including increasing the number of apprenticeships, is to be applauded. Manufacturing - and in particular plastics manufacturing - desperately needs fresh talent.

The plastics industry, current travails aside, offers terrific career prospects, with international horizons.
