IPSE, the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed, has announced that comedian Carl Donnelly will host its Freelancer of the Year Awards on Thursday 13th June 2019.

With TV credits including Mock the Week, Russell Howard’s Good News and Stand Up Central, Donnelly is a stalwart of the UK stand-up circuit and has been described as an ‘observational genius’ by the Guardian.

IPSE’s Freelancer of the Year Awards are designed to celebrate not only the best and brightest freelancers from across the UK, but also the people and businesses that support them. The categories are Co-working Space of the Year, Ambassador of the Year, University Partner of the Year, New to Freelancing, Young Freelancer of the Year, Freelancer of the Year and – a new category for 2019 – Best Freelance Project.

The prizes are:

- Freelancer of the Year – £5,000 for the winner, £2,000 for the runner-up.

- Young Freelancer of the Year – £3,000.

- New to Freelancing – £3,000.

- Freelance Project of the Year – £1,500.

To submit your business or work for an award, visit nationalfreelancersday.com. Submissions close on Friday 29 March.

IPSE’s CEO, Chris Bryce, comments: “Freelancers are the unsung heroes of the UK economy. And every year, we organise these awards to help turn that around – to celebrate their hard work and recognise the success of the best and brightest among them. It’s a hugely exciting event for us and for all of the UK’s freelancer community.

“We’re delighted to have a shining talent like Carl Donnelly to host the evening, keep our spirits high and help us celebrate some truly remarkable people.”
