DECC announced an updated Community Energy Strategy today, setting out how the Government will enable communities to set up sustainable energy projects.

The Energy Saving Trust is working with DECC to develop the Community Energy Hub website – “a one-stop shop for communities interested in generating their own energy”.

Graham Ayling, community services manager at the Energy Saving Trust, said: “We want this Community Hub to work for and with community energy groups across the UK, strengthening existing groups and making it easier for new groups to follow in their footsteps.

“There have been thousands of local community energy projects set up in recent years, right across the country. We want to make energy saving in communities more straightforward, whether it’s about installing insulation, more efficient boilers, or even a community renewable power station. This new website will make good information on community energy much easier to find, help existing projects support each other and inspire new communities to get involved.”
