Greater transparency for RCVS Annual Report

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) has published its Annual Report and Financial Statements for 2013 in a new format to make it more accessible and transparent for members.

The report sets out the achievements of the College last year, including reform of the RCVS disciplinary process and the First Rate Regulator initiative, as well as looking to the future and how the organisation will meet the aims of its Strategic Plan for 2014-16.

On the recommendation of the RCVS Audit and Risk Committee the financial statements for 2013 have also been set out in accordance with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice – a framework for charity accounting and reporting.

Corrie McCann, RCVS Operations Director, explains: “The new format identifies costs and income by the type of activity, which means that we now provide a longer and more detailed financial report for our members.

“This new approach will provide greater transparency for members and also means that our accounts can be more easily compared with other organisations that use the same standards.”

The report will be presented for adoption by members at the College’s Annual General Meeting on Friday 11 July.
