Greening the Nation: Setting the agenda ahead of COP28
With COP28 just weeks away, the latest issue of The House magazine includes a special report on Greening the Nation. Bringing together politicians, businesses, and consumers, hear from a range of voices on how the UK can lead from the front in tackling the climate crisis.
We hear from Graham Stuart MP, minister of state for energy security and net zero, who is representing the UK at COP28 this year. In his contribution, he outlines the message he will be taking to the summit: that "the UK is committed to delivering net-zero at home but, more importantly, we will work to encourage our partners around the world to help them get on the same track".
Philip Dunne MP, chair of the Environmental Audit Committee, shares his thoughts on what should be on the agenda this year. He believes it is time for the UK to show international leadership by promoting nature recovery and expanding our renewable energy projects.
Chi Onwurah MP, shadow minister for science, research and innovation, highlights how Britain's science and technology sectors have a significant role to play in helping us meet our climate change commitments.
Looking across the UK, we also hear from Deidre Brock MP, shadow SNP COP spokesperson, who sets out what the party are doing to press the government to establish a loss and damage fund, and from Ben Lake MP, shadow Plaid Cymru spokesperson for environment, food and rural affairs, on how we can unlock Wales’ green future.
