IPSE is the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed. With 68,000 members and associates, we exist to support, promote and advise the self-employed, ensuring they can fulfil their potential and deliver growth and innovation for the UK economy.

IPSE, the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed, today released its manifesto:  'A Contract with the Self-Employed'. The 4.8 million self-employed in the UK contribute £255bn to our economy every year – enough to fund the NHS twice – and this manifesto details all the policies required to ensure they can continue adding worth, innovation and efficiency. The manifesto calls for:

  • A statutory definition of self-employment

  • A fairer, more efficient tax system

  • Improving the welfare system with better pension provisions and maternity benefits

  • Better enterprise education and preparing the next generation for self-employment

  • Improved infrastructure to create a positive business environment.
