Magnox/RSRL Competition - Preferred Bidder Announcement
The Nuclear Industry Association (NIA) have welcomed the news that the Cavendish Fluor Partnership (a joint venture between Cavendish Nuclear, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Babcock International Group PLC and Fluor Corporation) have been selected as the preferred bidder in the competition to take ownership of Magnox Ltd and Research Sites Restoration Limited.
The announcement means that the consortium, Cavendish Fluor will manage a wide range of decommissioning activities across eleven sites. In addition to their decommissioning programme of work the consortium will also manage the operations of the existing Magnox power station at Wylfa on Anglesey, which is expected to close in 2015.

Bruce Stanski, president of Fluor’s Government Group, said: “We are pleased our joint venture with Cavendish Nuclear has been selected as the preferred bidder for this prominent nuclear contract. We look forward to bringing our expertise gained from decades of managing and operating nuclear decommissioning sites.”
Nuclear Industry Association, Chief Executive, Keith Parkersaid of the announcement, “This is excellent news for industry and our members. With a project value of around £6-7 billion over 14 years, this contract represents one of the UK's largest public procurement exercises”.
