Mott MacDonald appoints Rose McArthur as technical director in its integrated transport business
Mott MacDonald has appointed Rose McArthur as a technical director in its integrated transport business. She will focus on travel demand management (TDM) and transport planning for major global sporting events.
Rose is an experienced transport planner with expertise in travel behaviour change and the development of travel demand strategies to support planned and unplanned disruptions. She has 15 years’ experience developing travel plans and has worked on the TDM programme for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, which was managed by Mott MacDonald, as well as having a substantial role at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Mott MacDonald is experienced in delivering major TDM and transport planning projects globally. The consultancy has been supporting the development and delivery of a major travel behaviour change programme in the Middle East since 2011.
Commenting on her appointment, Rose said: “My work will focus on alleviating congestion, developing reliable journey times and sustaining continued economic output from cities during times of disruption. One of the greatest challenges will be to influence enough people to create real and sustained behavioural change which will keep cities moving during major events and retain this change afterwards. This will involve persuading people of the time, health and environmental benefits of considering all forms of travel, including walking and cycling.”
