Nominations now open for 2015 RCVS Honours
The opportunity to recognise outstanding achievement in the veterinary world is now available with the opening of the nomination period for RCVS Honours for 2015.
Nominations are open for three RCVS Honours: the Queen’s Medal, Honorary Associateship and Honorary Fellowship.
The Queen’s Medal was first bestowed in 2014 as the highest honour that can be awarded to a veterinary surgeon and is now an annual award recognising particularly distinguished careers and outstanding achievements. The Medal is bestowed on one individual every year.
The Honorary Associateship is conferred to a small number of non-members of the RCVS each year in recognition of a special contribution to the veterinary field.
The Honorary Fellowship recognises members of the RCVS who have made an outstanding contribution to the profession – for example, in veterinary medicine, education, clinical practice or politics. No more than three Honorary Fellowships are conferred each year.
To find out more about each honour, and to download a nomination form, please visit www.rcvs.org.uk/honours. Nomination forms should be completed and returned to the RCVS no later than Friday 12 September 2014.
Only members of the RCVS can make a nomination for the Queen’s Medal. Anyone can make a nomination for the Honorary Associateship or Honorary Fellowship, however.
Nominations will be considered by the RCVS Operational Board and then by RCVS Council at its November 2014 meeting. Nominators and nominees who have been successful will be notified in November and the results made public at the March 2015 meeting of Council. Honours will be awarded at RCVS Day in July 2015.
