Statement from the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult in response to the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme Allocation Round 4 (AR4) and offshore wind.

Andrew Jamieson, Chief Executive of the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, said: “Today’s auction results once again underline that offshore wind is primed to continue playing an increasingly important role in our energy mix for years to come, and the prospect of around 7GW of further capacity announced today will help us take another big stride towards net zero and meeting the UK’s ambitious offshore wind targets.

“Going forward we need to find new ways of ensuring that this future development is complimented by the expansion of the UK supply chain, by looking at how we can help UK companies develop the innovative technological solutions which can lead to future growth. ORE Catapult is actively supporting this in a number of ways, including through our world leading test and demonstration facilities, and by helping UK SMEs to gear up to meet the future demand and requirements of the sector so that they can tap into the economic potential on offer.”
