The Road Haulage Associations 2015 National Lorry Week was a tremendous success.

The aims of the campaign aims were all met; to raise the profile of the haulage industry in the eyes of the public and the popular media across the UK, demonstrating to government the very real challenges that the industry faces and effectively highlighting the wide and diverse career opportunities available.

In Scotland, over 500 pupils from Aberdeen’s Dyce Primary School turned out to see the unveiling of Colin Lawson Transport’s brand new DAF truck. The school ran a Love the Lorry competition lorry and the winner, pupil Max Vizy, was the envy of his classmates when he pointed to his name printed across the front of the tractor unit.

Commenting, the RHA’s director responsible for Scotland Martin Reid said: “Love the Lorry week was a huge success in Scotland and for youngsters such as our winner Max we hope the legacy will continue - even after his special truck has long-retired. Schools all over Scotland are now showing their pupils that working in logistics can be a long and rewarding career option.

“Special thanks must go to Colin Lawson Transport for the fantastic prize and to MSP’s Mark McDonald and Christian Allard for their support during the week-long event. Already we’re making plans for National Lorry Week 2016 and I am pleased that many of our Scottish members have been in touch asking how they can get involved.”
