RHA Spring Conference set for success
The Road Haulage Association (RHA) is busy preparing for its annual Spring Conference, to take place on 18/19 March at the Old England Hotel, Windermere.
This year’s event has been merged with the successful and long established RHA Agricon conference and will feature a variety of top industry speakers.
Day one of the conference will focus on specific issues relating to the transport of foods and agricultural products, livestock and milk. Tipper operators involved in the movement of food product and aggregates will also feature. Stephanie Young from Staffordshire County Council will be discussing the LSM Primary Authority agreement, followed by Andrew Hildreth from Frontier Agriculture who will be discussing grain haulage from the perspective of the grain merchant.
Day two will cover broader industry issues and we are pleased that Under Secretary of State for Transport Andrew Jones MP has agreed to speak. John Pinnock, Transport Manager Fleet Control at HS2 will discuss the opportunities for operators from the scale and duration of the project, as well as the expected vehicle safety and driver training requirements. In addition, David Higginbottom from Driver First Assist, providers of life-saving first aid training will give advice about how to manage the scene at a road traffic accident.
Other speakers include RHA Chief Executive Richard Burnett and RHA board member Lesley O'Brien, founder of the Association’s latest initiative, She’s RHA; designed to encourage more women into the transport and logistics industry.
And on the social side, a welcome dinner will be held on the Friday evening and on Saturday a Gala Dinner. This will include a charity auction and a raffle, the proceeds of which will be split between two charities - Macmillan Nurses and the RHA’s own Benevolent Fund.
