Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons headin to National Pet Show
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) will once again be heading to the National Pet Show, this year held from 6-7 May at the Excel in London. The College will be focusing on promoting its Find a Vet search function and the Practice Standards Scheme (PSS) to visitors.
The College's Find a Vet search tool was relaunched in 2016, allowing users for the first time to search for a veterinary surgeon, veterinary nurse or veterinary practice all in one place. The tool also includes new features such as displaying a practice's
visiting information (including opening hours and car parking); enabling users to ‘get directions’ via Google Maps; advertising a practice’s PSS accreditations and awards; and returning individual profile pages for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses.
To promote the free search tool the College will be encouraging visitors to take part in its Find a Vet dice game for the chance to win an iPad Mini.
The College will also be promoting the PSS, a voluntary accreditation scheme for veterinary practices in the UK that was first started in 2005 and relaunched in November 2015. Since its re-launch, the PSS provides a greater focus on how practices use their resources to create a positive outcome for patients and clients, and allows for practices to distinguish the areas in which they excel through its awards system.
Visiting animal owner events such as the National Pet Show is part of the College’s drive to raise public awareness of PSS and the Find a Vet service, and to encourage visitors to consider careers as veterinary surgeons or veterinary nurses.
