Boris Johnson 'running scared' of Andrew Neil grilling, claims Labour chair Ian Lavery

Boris Johnson has been accused of "running scared" of a grilling by Andrew Neil by Labour.
Tory chiefs said they were still "in discussions" with the BBC about when the Prime Minister might face the BBC's top political interviewer.
Mr Neil has already interviewed SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon and Labour boss Jeremy Corbyn in the past 48 hours.
Labour chair Ian Lavery said: "Boris Johnson backed out of a head-to-head debate with Jeremy Corbyn on Sunday, he is refusing to take part in the party leaders’ climate crisis debate tomorrow and now this.
"He’s running scared because every time he is confronted with the impact of nine years of austerity, the cost of living crisis and over his plans to sell out our NHS, the more he is exposed."
Labour sources claimed they were told by the BBC that Mr Johnson had agreed to be interviewed next week when they were in discussions about Mr Corbyn's appearance.
But a BBC source told PoliticsHome: "We didn’t tell any of the parties that Boris Johnson had confirmed."
Meanwhile, the BBC has confirmed that Lib Dem leader Jo Swinson will be interviewed by Andrew Neil on 4 December, with Brexit Party chief Nigel Farage appearing the following night.
