Clive Lewis has apologised “unreservedly” after a video emerged of him telling an audience member at a Momentum event to “get on your knees, b*itch”.
The senior Labour MP said the language he used at last month's Brighton bash was “offensive and unacceptable”.
Mr Lewis was rounded on by senior Labour figures, with former deputy leader Harriet Harman describing the video as “inexplicable” and “inexcusable”, while Jess Phillips said she was "appalled".
Walthamstow MP Stella Creasy tweeted: “Its not ok...reinforces menace that men have the physical power to force compliance”.
Tory MP Mims Davies described it as “astounding inappropriate language” and urged Ms Phillips to get Mr Lewis onto a training course.
Trade Minister Greg Hands said: “There’s always been an unpleasant misogynism in the Hard Left, but this is particularly repellent from a senior Labour MP.”
Mr Lewis said: “I apologise unreservedly for the language I used at an event in Brighton last month, it was offensive and unacceptable."
The 26-second clip was first published by Guido Fawkes. Watch it here:
