Disabled people have been completely overlooked in the design and delivery of Universal Credit - Scope

Following the publication of an assessment by the National Audit Office, disabled people appear to have been completely overlooked in the design and delivery of Universal Credit, says Scope.

James Taylor, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at disability charity Scope, said:

“Today’s report shines a light on the unfair struggle many disabled people are facing to get the financial support they’re entitled to.

“Life is more expensive when you’re disabled, and yet disabled people are being hit hardest by delays to payments and other problems.

“Disabled people appear to have been completely overlooked in the design and delivery of Universal Credit, and what's more it appears that the Government lacks the ability to measure the impact of Universal Credit on disabled people.

“We urge the Government listen and take urgent action to fix flaws in the system.”
