Eddie Izzard announces he is standing to be on Labour's NEC

Eddie Izzard has announced his intention to stand again for a seat on Labour’s ruling National Executive Committee.
The comedian and actor, who stood unsuccessfully in 2016, said he wanted to “break down barriers” and make the party more “welcoming”.
Mr Izzard wrote in the Guardian: "I've tried to give a voice to those who don't have one and to be an activist for the political party I believe has the best and strongest values, which will mean we can end poverty and move forward positively as a society and a country.
"Now I want to stand for Labour's National Executive Committee so that I can break down barriers."
He added that Labour needs to “do more to increase involvement from a range of groups that I don’t feel are represented enough in our party”.
“That includes those from LGBT, disabled and ethnic minority backgrounds, as well as those who have suffered from mental health issues. Gender equality and increasing working-class participation is also vital."
The announcement comes as grassroots activists are set to get three more seats on the decision making committee.
