Ex-David Davis adviser says Boris Johnson should be prosecuted for Brexit claims

David Davis’s former chief of staff has intensified his attack on leading members of the Government, suggesting Boris Johnson should be prosecuted for his role in the Brexit campaign.
James Chapman, who now works for PR company Bell Pottinger, said yesterday MPs should form a new party to block the UK’s departure from the European Union.
Since then, he has continued his Twitter tirades against leading Leave campaigners and singled out the Foreign Secretary for criticism.
He suggested Mr Johnson should be locked up for claiming last year that the UK would be able to channel £350m a week from its EU contributions to the National Health Service instead.
Press Association analysis this week showed that the UK’s contribution was £252m per week after the rebate was taken into account, or £156m per week if EU spending in the UK was also deducted.
Labour MP Chuka Umunna, another frequent critic of Mr Johnson, described the £350m figure as a “big lie”.
Mr Chapman has taken aim at a string of eurosceptic figures on Twitter in recent days, reserving some of his most vicious attacks for former Ukip leader Nigel Farage.
Mr Chapman took his job at the Department for Exiting the EU shortly after the referendum before quitting at the recent general election.
He had previously worked for George Osborne and, before that, as a journalist for the Daily Mail.
A number of other Cabinet ministers have been challenged by Mr Chapman about the potential impact of Brexit – though none has yet responded.
