Independent Age respond to Clive Betts MP

Independent Age respond to the Chair of the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee proposals on social care funding.

Independent Age responded with the following statement:

We welcome the continued analysis of the problems with social care, and its chronic underfunding. However, unless the government acts on what they are being told, older people will not experience the improvements in the quality of health and social care they so desperately need. So far the recently-delayed green paper has been promoted as the solution to all these ills, but older people want action now: close the ever-widening funding gap, recognise and support the important contribution of care workers, and involve older people in defining what quality care means to them.
