Our Work: Farmed Animal Welfare

Humane Society International UK

1 min read

Industrialised animal agriculture is causing immense suffering to millions of animals, as well as having a devastating impact on our climate and environment. We are lobbying for governments to address animal agriculture as ‘the cow in the room’ of climate talks and commit to strategies to get more plants on plates. In the UK we are supporting campaigns to end the live export of animals for slaughter and fattening, and ban cages for hens and crates for pigs. We believe the UK government must protect hard won welfare standards in trade deals, and not allow them to be undermined by lower welfare imports.
