Our Work: Trophy Hunting

Humane Society International UK

1 min read

We have been campaigning for the UK Government to introduce a comprehensive ban on the import and export of hunting trophies without loopholes. Trophy hunters pay huge sums of money to kill wild animals for fun and for display. Studies over the years have demonstrated that trophy hunting negatively impacts populations of threatened and endangered species. Despite the efforts of the trophy hunting industry to greenwash its image, the so-called “conservation” benefits have failed to materialise along with the purported benefits to local people. The UK now as an opportunity to end our support for this outdated and damaging practice by restricted the ability of hunters to import their grotesque trophies through the Hunting Trophies (Import Prohibition) Bill.
