Packaging innovates for Covid 19

APPG for the Packaging Manufacturing Industry Secretariat | The Packaging Debate

1 min read

From corrugated to tray thermoforming to injection moulding the world’s packaging sectors have had to adapt to Covid 19. The UK has been no exception.

Where possible, many packaging businesses have changed up production lines and retooled production methods in order to help supply health services with vital products - Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and other items.

Film manufacturing operations have been pressed into gown manufacture, for example; extruders have adapted their expertise to the manufacture of medical tubing, and contract injection moulders of packaging have fast tracked new tooling in order to make ventilator components.

And while industry reaction to the Government’s procurement strategy and abilities has been mixed, many packaging suppliers have provided a positive fit for today’s emergency needs.

UK trade media has reported here and here. With transatlantic reporting on some international players here.
