Theresa May facing fresh Commons rebellion over plan for early summer recess

Theresa May is set for another Tory rebellion over the Government's plan to send MPs on their summer holidays five days early.
In a surprise move, Commons Leader Andrea Leadsom table a Parliamentary motion which would bring forward recess to Thursday, rather than next Tuesday as originally planned.
But the announcement sparked a backlash from MPs last night - including many Conservatives - who said they would vote against it.
With a number of senior Labour MPs already announcing that they will also vote against the motion, the Prime Minister is again facing the prospect of a humiliating Commons defeat.
Former minister Nick Boles and Tory grandess Nicholas Soames both tweeted their opposition to the plan, which critics said was designed to protect Mrs May from a possible vote of no confidence.
Shadow Cabinet members John McDonnell and Angela Rayner were among the Labour MPs to make clear they will vote against the early recess.
Liberal Democrat leader Vince Cable told The Independent: “With the Tories languishing in a state of civil war, Theresa May is running scared of a leadership challenge with plans for an early recess."
